I see you downcast and low,
Your eyes are red from all the crying,
Or is it the lack of sleep,
Your hair's a mess,
Your fists are clenched,
The pain is real.
I hold out my hand and you turn away,
Your words are fierce full of fire and anger,
Not at me, no not this time,
But you scream at the world,
How unfair it is,
You give everything,
Your heart,
Your truths,
Your soul,
And get rejected time after time after time.
I don't give in to your bitterness and pain,
I stay with you,
In your pocket to pull out like a hanky when you need to dry your eyes,
I stay and deep inside I really do know why,
Now I realise why,
You told me so,
I stay and my hand held out to you,
Take it,
Dance with me and sing our songs,
Cry on my shoulder,
Scream at her,
Tell me about your hurt and pain,
Let me help you.
Let me be your hanky let me dry your eyes.

Got 5 stars from me. Excuse me while I look for mine.

Got the T shirt.

We often overlook the everyday things. A hanky is the perfect example. Ever present (at least in my case) used and then put away again until needed. What a metaphor for the lives of many people! A beautifully crafted ode, Arking. Well done. 5 stars.
